Nothing is like bison. They’re wild and native to this land. But by the late 1800s, they were almost wiped off the map. What was once an estimated population of 30 million dwindled to the hundreds.
Thanks to conservation initiatives and bison ranching, these animals are back from the brink of extinction. Jackson Hole Buffalo Meat Company is part of the repopulation movement, and our success supports others doing the same.
Our Story
75 years of excellence
Jackson Hole Buffalo Meat Company, based in beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming, was founded in 1947. Before becoming a butcher shop, it functioned as cold storage for locals when refrigeration was still rare in the remote Rockies.
In 2017, Chris O’Blenness purchased the business after a career in the farm-to-table arena that spanned Wyoming to New York. As a Jackson Hole Valley native, taking the helm brought him home.
Since then, the butcher shop has evolved to bring you the highest quality native game meat. Whether you buy online or in-person at our store, you’ll get the same exceptional products and friendly service that have become nothing short of legendary.

We don’t just run the shop; we’re also a supplier. At OK Ranch, we raise buffalo at the foot of the Tetons where they’ve lived for millennia. Both our team and the producers we work with go to great lengths to ensure these incredible animals closely mimic the lives and patterns that have evolved over thousands of years.
Once they arrive at our shop, we take the utmost care and consideration in every step of the process and do everything in-house. The result is game meat that rivals what you’d find at the best steakhouse.
